What the ... timing?!?!?

It may be time to wrap this blog up. Sure I can always come up with Korea Times article to shake my head at or stupidity at Korea Sentry to rant about but South Korea isn't really part of my life any more.

My new job takes up a lot of my time. I am, surprisingly to me, enjoying my job. My free time, well, I tend not to spend it on the internet that much any more. (Thanks for entertaining me with you fucktardery John. I probably would have come to this conclusion sooner but you always gave me material to run with. You and Herr Consoleman. :) )

Stig has gone back to University and doesn't time for the blog either. Heh ... Back to School ... good movie. :)

All of which has me wondering if it isn't time to let "What the kimchi???" go and focus on my follies, or just let it all go.

  1. I've been thinking about killing the Bunrblog too...just because I'm busy...and I can't get angry about shit every day...because I'm busy!

I guess you could always leave it here for days where you see something that reminds you of Korea...and want to chat about it.

Or...you can just wrap it up! it's your call...but it's been a top blog...and I've always enjoyed reading it.

  2. Thanks Burndog. :)

Today was one of my rare days off. And I don't mean that in a bad way.

Leaving it here for days that remind me of Korea may not be a bad idea. Hell instead of this post I could have talked about a discussion I had with my neighbour/co-worker about Korea the other day. She asked me if I missed Korea and there are some things I miss. Just as there are some things I don't miss.

I do miss the patio at Dunkin Donuts and watching the people go by.

  3. Ah, the pleasures of full-time employment! Congrats, Flint. Super happy that you're enjoying your new job.

I agree - absolutely, blogging can be time-consuming. Not the actual writing -- but the stuff that comes after. The actual writing itself -- we always make time for things that are important. When people say, "I don't have time for ____" I think that what they really mean is, "I don't want to make time for ____." Certainly, it's not so far a stretch from spending hours fucking around with dickheads online to thinking, "Shit, I'm not even getting paid for this!"

Funny, I just watched Back to School a few weeks ago for old times' sake. Next up: Easy Money. :)

  4. That is true Eve. It is more like I don't want to make time for it. I find it hard to convince myself to spend time online right now. That could change as I get used to the time changes that go with shift work. (I actually have 3 days off now. Today is day 2 and I find myself ... online at the moment. ;))

Rodney Dangerfield ... love his movies. :)

  5. I enjoyed this blog, but I have to say that the K-blogosphere is getting kind of boring. I also have to say that for folks who return home and continue to blog, it is a bit strange. I can understand folks wanting to stay connected to stuff going on in K-land for a few months, but eventually life goes on and Korea just isn't that important anymore. Hell I don't even care about blogging that much anymore since I got my university job. I don't really have anything to bitch about, my new job is fun. Some of what makes Korea blogging fun is the fact that you get to bitch about Korea, but when you have a job that doesn't really give you that much ammo, there isn't really that much to say. I think a lot of people end up going crazy because they have to deal with kids, co-teachers, and child abuse all day, and then when they go somewhere like home plus and people mindlessly get in the way, they just explode...or blog, or feel the need to express how they teach for the love of teaching and for the cause of getting Korean people to speak English. (Really?)

Anyway Flint and Stig, I am jealous of you both for being back in the land of North America. I'm super jealous of Flint for being in North America, and for being employed, and I'm super jealous of Stig for being back at college, I mean come on, there is really no better time of life than being in college. I would love just to go back home and hit up the old uni for some elective classes, I don't even give a shit about the grades, I just like the college life.

  6. Well said 3gyubsal. It took me a while to figure it out but unless something Korea related comes up I don't have much to say about Korea anymore. One reason I think it took so long is that until I got this job returning to Asia was always an option. Now it would only be on a vacation.

I am kind of jealous of Stig too. It would be nice to be back in Uni.

  7. Of course having started this thread I have thought of a few Korea related things I could blog about. A co-worker asked me if I missed Korea, what I missed, and why?

Dunno if I should post it here or FF. Or write it at all. :)

  8. I have not even had time to visit, much less post something. I still have loads of old columns I'd still like to post someday, but I just don't have the time now.
I had a coupla days off this week, and I got some organizing done so I at least know what assignments are due when. But I still have tons of reading to do.
It's good to be back in school, I tell ya!
