What the ... similarity?!?!?

It looks like Canada has something else in common with South Korea, and Japan. Compensated dating.

I recently saw a news story on CBC about Sugar Babies. II couldn't find a link to the CBC story but found one for CTV.) A website where men can find University women looking for a sugar daddy. It reminded me a lot of what I heard about compensated dating in South Korea. Except that this is for University women and not High School or Middle School girls.

This site appears to be for legal aged women/men  to find a sugar daddy/mommy, to take care of them. You can look for sugar daddies, sugar mommies, sugar babies, or male babies. It is interesting to see how much money some want (or are willing to put out ;) ) monthly.  As long as all involved are adults  more power to them. Is it a form of prostitution? Probably but I don't really care as long as all are consenting adults.

Keep In Touch

I was going to post this on my "Facebook" page to lament the pitiable state of my love life when I had a thought. I do have one every once in a while.
It seemed like this cartoon pertained more to Korean relationships that I and my friends have had.
Koreans, like girlfriends, will suddenly drop you, or drop out of your life, with no warning whatsoever. You'll go along sending them messages or e-mails with no reply before the penny drops. The seventh panel is the most operative as it describes how Korean friends will disappear and then resurface.
I've had Korean friends and girlfriends do this to me. Sometimes you're actually happy to hear from some old girlfriend, especially if she's hot. But usually it's some mook who only wants some help with some English translation or brushing up.
Yeah, I remember you,Korea.
My old girlfriend.
You bitch.

What the ... cheaters?

I read an interesting post on Prestige Korea about dating. The blogger talked about some of the women he dated in the past.

It got me thinking about some of the ones I dated. There was a common theme to some of mine, they all had Korean boy friends at the same time and they lied about it. To me that is a big no-no. It seemed to be a very common thing for Korean women to do, especially if their boy friend was doing his military service.

I had a girl friend who cheated on me before and I never wanted to be THAT person. It is a relationship ender for me. I just couldn't trust someone who cheated on me not to do it again. Nor am I stupid enough to believe that they wouldn't do it again.

I had heard other foreign guys saying that "we don't count" to Korean women but never put a lot of stock in it. Then an ex, when we were breaking up, flat out said it. She told me that I am a foreigner so I don't count. I can't be her boyfriend. Don't count for what I am not sure, she was no virgin.

Having that happen to me a few times and seeing it happen with friends made me a lot less trusting of Korean women. Kind of the way we don't count in their society affects the way I see Korean society.
