South Korea's largest tobacco company is in hot water over their ad campaign for the new This Africa cigarette. The campaign uses monkeys instead of people.
Unsurprisingly, people are pissed off and consider the ad racist and offensive.
Unsurprisingly, KT&G (the company in question) never thought the ad would be considered racist or offensive.
Unsurprisingly, KT&G even tried to blame foreigners for the "problems" with the ad campaign.
I would have been surprised if the company just said "Yes, we fucked up. Sorry." But I know better than to expect something like that. Why accept responsibility when you can pretend to do so while blaming foreigners.

What the ... bureautards?!?!? Part 2
As mentioned in the previous post on this subject I mailed my info to the branch of the Canada Revenue Agency dealing with Canadians living abroad. Thus letting the branch know what the main office didn't, that I had been living in Canada, and filing taxes, since 2010. That way they would know I don't owe them a dime for having my Tax Free Savings Account ... since the main office doesn't see fit to keep the branches informed on peoples status changes.
That was around August 25th 2013. Today, October 3rd 2013 I received a letter from CRA dated September 27th. A MONTH after I sent them the information. Information that couldn't be given over the bloody phone to start the process. Information the main branch has but couldn't simply memo them about. It had to be mailed to them from me.
Stupidly, I kind of expected it to simply say everything has been cleared up. Of course it wouldn't be that easy. Of course it will be a longer process. This letter was to thank me for the additional information about my 2010 tax return (what about 2011? 2012? Everything was mentioned in the letter.) And to let me know that they will review the information and advise me of the results.
What a bunch of bureautards.
So, once again, to warn those who played by the rules and let CRA know you were a non-resident Citizen of Canada, YOU have to the specific department within CRA know when you have returned. Filing your tax returns is not enough. CRA itself will NOT inform them of your status change. Kind of makes me wonder if the BS is worth playing by the rules for.

What the ... BureauTards?!?!?
I have been home for over 3 years. Filing may taxes. Working at the same job for 2 years. In 2012 I opened a Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA). Imagine my surprise when I got a letter from Canada Revenue agency (CRA) telling me that I owed them money for deposits I made to my TFSA. The reason? I am a non-resident Citizen and am putting money into the account that I made abroad. Really?
Like I said, I have been filing taxes since I got back. I actually talked to someone at RCA when I filed my first return because I hadn't made money that year, I was living off my savings. My 1st return also reflected my change in address and status.Which means, or should have meant, that RCA knew that I was living in Canada again.
I called the 1-800 number for RCA and after going through several options that were of no help talked to a real person. They transferred me to the department that handles TFSA. After waiting a while I got to talk to a person. I explained the letter I got and my situation. They immediately knew the problem.
One section of RCA doesn't let the other know what is going on with people. The main office doesn't let the one that deals with Immigration issues (that is the word she used) know about changes in status. YOU have to contact them and let them know. Would have been nice to know that. Seems kind of stupid since the main office knew my status changed but what the fuck, it is a bureaucracy and the stereotypes do have some basis in reality.
So know the onus is on me to contact a section of CRA and let them know what the main office knows. Fucking bureaucrats.
So, if you are one of the Canadian ex-pats who actually let the government know you are living and working abroad, which resulted in a change to your resident status, let CRA know when you return because they don't keep their own departments up to date.
You have to send them a letter explaining the change in your status. When it changed. Shit like that. send it to:
St. John's Tax Centre
ATTN T1 Speciality Services
290 Empire avenue
St. John's, NL
A1B 3Z1
HOPEFULLY, that will resolve the bullshit before I get another letter from RCA saying I owe them money.
Fucktards.

Thank you.
I have to give out a BIG BIG thank you (thank yous? thank you's?) to two "people" today.
First, Korea. Once again, thank you. If it wasn't for the bullshit I was put through by the mooks, morons, and malcontents during my 10 years there I would not have had the ability to control my temper like I did yesterday. A co-worker flipped out for no real reason and when he was in my face, spittle and profanity flying, I was able to NOT knock his fucking teeth out and stomp a mud hole in him. I WAS able to not raise my voice while letting him know he was being a douche in a somewhat polite manner.
It is kind of funny when I think back. Unlike him I wasn't running around trying to raise sympathy from everyone. When people came to me and I told them my version of what happened it was amazing. According to them it was pretty much the SAME way the assmunch told it. And he did NOT look good at all in either telling of the story.
Stig, remember the taxi driver I didn't kick the shit out of? It was close to that situation. Dangerously close. If the finger had touched me I can't say I wouldn't have decked him. Or at least broken the finger. Same in this situation. If it had happened 12+ years ago ... I would have put the beat down of a life time on the mook I work with. Let alone that moronic cabbie.
The second thank you goes to the Anonymous posters, the majority of who came from ... Brazil?!?!?, today. I did a major cleaning of the apartment and found myself tired and bored. A bored Flint is a dangerous Flint, right John? These pimples on the ass of the internet allowed me to blow off some steam and kill some time. I appreciate the distraction fucktards. Feel free to keep posting. I may even allow your comments. :)
Kudos mooks. Keep on being you. God knows you don't seem to be able to change for the better.

What the ... vengeance?!?!?
I read a post on Gusts of Popular Feeling today that had me shaking my head and chuckling. The author had been emailed by a friend warning about a phone number, 010-4878-4040. According to his friend the police were telling people not to answer calls from this number or they would be charged 250,000 Won. Of course it was a hoax. Yet another bullshit story that rubes across the world are willing to by into and spread.
What I found amusing was the reason why this was started. Someone pissed a guy off. To get revenge he started this rumour hoping no one would want to accept the other guys calls anymore.
On one hand, that is quite the revenge. I can kind of admire the depths the instigator was willing to go to for revenge over an argument. I always thought I was vengeful but I have to take my hat off to this guy.
On the other hand just how fucking stupid are people? Oh yeah. Pretty stupid. The rumours of this nature that get bandied about thanks to the internet is insane. I think we all have had someone forward us a message/warning they got about a virus or something that turned out to be BS. Or gotten similar nonsense on FaceBook by someone who believed it enough to pass it on.
Morons, miscreants, and malcontents. At least they sometimes provide laughter with their bullshit. .

Responding to comments.
I wrote a little post about some of the fucktards who comment on my blogs. (Said fucktards being the ones who like to post death threats, fuck off's, etc.) It is over on Flint's Follies if you want to take a look.
If, like I often am, you can't be arsed to follow the link I will provide a brief synopis of the post below.
Thanks for helping relieve my boredom and showing that while what you say means nothing to me my words get your panties in a bunch. :)

What the ... slight?!?!?!?
One of the favourite slights used by apologists and assholes when they attack those teaching ESL in South Korea is to say
"You teach ESL here because you can't get a job back home."
or some variation of this.
Talking with Audience in a previous thread and thinking about an internet asshole I recently dealt with reminded me of this. My current situation actually puts the lie to it.
I am currently working part time and making as much money as I did teaching ESL in South Korea. Actually, if you look at the fluctuating rate of Won to Canadian Dollar, I am making more now than I did the last year or so that I was working in South Korea.
In a few months I will probably be full time and making more money. I will also have benefits. Some of which I had in South Korea but they were either grudgingly applied, ignored, or applied badly.
Like paid vacation time. Here, I can book the time off long in advance. I get the actual time I am supposed to get. Even with the best boss in South Korea vacation time was given last minute and it wasn't always the time that you were supposed to contractually get. At Ivy School 5 days off, around a weekend, twice a year, was screwed around with enough that it actually became 3 days and a weekend and in the end they actually tried giving 1 day plus the weekend.
Hell, I could have had a job out west making a lot more than I do now. Double it counting over time, which they get a lot of. Any Canadian teaching ESL could easily find work in Alberta even as a basic labourer making more money than they do in South Korea, and have benefits. Money isn't always the most important thing in life. I would rather have a job I am happy doing.
Guess what bitches, you were WRONG yet again. While I miss teaching I enjoy my current job a lot and it pays better part time or full time, with or without benefits than teaching ESL in South Korea. So, in the immortal words of John Stewart, I have something to say to the apologists and assholes who spout that bullshit.
Go fuck yourselves. :)

Douchey Dave: 1st Encounter
My introduction to David Thiessen aka Douchey Dave happened on YouTube years ago. He left a typical Douchey Dave comment on my old YouTube Channel.
"I wonder why you do this.? Can you tell me?"
This wasn't left in reference to any one video, just in the general comment section of the channel. It was followed up by this one.
"Foreigners only have themselves to blame for much of what transpires during their sojourn in this country, we are not blameless and the fault does not lie with the Korean nation only.
Take a hard look at your own actions, look at your attitude and behavior through an outsider's eye and see if you are happy with what you see."
I would discover that this is classic Douchey Dave. He takes the stand that whatever happens it is ALWAYS the fault of the foreigner. No matter how fucked over the foreigner gets it is always their fault according to good old Double D. It really makes you wonder how he functions with his head so far up his ass.
I left a couple of replies, which formed the nucleus of my later response. Then I looked up his YouTube Channel. The twat basically just went around to any videos that criticised South Korea in any way, whether real or perceived by DD, and spread his batshit. That is the sum of his contribution to YouTube. Much like his contribution around the web and in print. To be a troll.
Since my replies elicited no response, and in the time honoured tradition of ranting and responding, I made a video for Davey boy. :) Below is a transcript of it. At first, based on the insane logic and blind defence of South Korea I figured DD was just another Kyopo or Korean with an axe to grind, like the KKKlan members at KS. It was only after making this and searching his name on the web that I found out who he is, and just how batshit crazy he is.
***
Good afternoon. This is a bit of a rant but also a response. YouTube member davidarchthiessen posted a couple of comments on my channel's main page. I really don't know what to make of the comments he made.
Basically it seemed like he started off by saying it is the foreigners fault if things go pear shaped. If they have any problems, if something bad happens it's YOUR fault. And ONLY the foreigners are at fault. Never the Koreans.
He did have a bit of a point, and not just the one on his head. Sometimes with your attitude or your outlook you can create your own problems. I do that. We all do that.
Everybody has bad days. Sometimes your actions are so strange that it REALLY makes you look bad. Like if I were to, ohhh, take a phesant and hammer it to death. That would make me look very bad. Maybe a little "evil". Maybe I would even look like a psycho. That would be my fault and no one elses.
It works both ways though. Sometimes people create the problems for you. Sometimes it is their attitudes and what they do. Like if I am walking down the street and I hear a Korean say Meechin Miguk to me. Well, who just created the problem here? Him or me? Me because I learned enough Korean to understand he is being rude or him for being a rude asshole?
So, I do agree with him to a point. Sometimes foreigners do create their own problems here. I have done it. Other foreigners have done it. But it doesn't ALWAYS work out that way. According to Douchey Dave it is always the foreigners fault. That is pretty fucked up.
Then he posted "Why do you do this?"
Why do I do what? Why do I make videos? Why do I talk about life? Why do I criticize Korea? (Which does seem to be the burr in his saddle.) All of the above? I mean, it is not actually a bad question but qualify it. What do I do that you want to know about?
Why do I make videos? I want to. I can. So, I do it. Ok, that is being a little glib. I do it for my friends. A good friend got me started on YouTube or I probably never would have. So, some of it I do for him. Some of it I do for me. Some of it I do for family. Some of it I do to try and share my experiences in life with other people and friends. I have met some nice people through this and I have met a lot of people full of haterade. Which one are you davidarchthiessen?
Why do I talk about life? Well, you know what? I am living it! I'm not going to talk about your life because I am not living your life. What happens in your life, well, I don't know. Maybe YOU should share that with other people? You might like it. You might not. If you don't then you stop doing it.
When I view other peoples videos, well, except for the comedy ones, but the life ones I view them to learn from their experiences. Sometimes I learn lessons about myself. I hope people have the same experience with mine.
Sometimes in doing my videos it makes me examine what I think. Or comments I get back make me examine some of what I have said. Maybe I was a too harsh. Maybe I am taking something the wrong way. I would like to think that I am open minded enough to learn from that.
Why do I criticize Korea? I don't JUST criticize Korea. Granted a lot of my rants do that. But, you know what, I am living here. I pay taxes here. Income tax, pension, health care, sales tax. I pay that money out and if I want to criticize something about Korea ... I will.
If I was living in Canada odds are my rants would mostly be about Canada. No one country is perfect my friend. None! South Korea, Canada, America, Zimbabwe ... you get the idea. I could keep throwing out the names of every country.
No country is perfect. They all have problems. And sometimes, especially if it is a big problem like racism, if you don't talk about it then it will never get fixed.
After looking at your responses, reading your comments, and posting my replies I took a look at your YouTube Channel. I wonder why YOU are here? Are you just here to attack people you feel are saying disparaging things about Korea?
You created your account just over a week ago. All you seem to have done is piss people off by posting on their channel how much you don't like them. Which makes them post back on yours about what a douche you are. If that is all you are here for ... go away troll.
Why not try and contribute something? Make some videos about what you think makes Korea great. I challenge anyone out there ... make some videos about what makes your country great. If there is something in your country that ticks you off make a video about that.
There are a lot of good things in Korea. Tell us about them! Educate us about the country and what makes it great. If you aren't going to do that ... piss off.
If you need help I can give you some ideas. If you need some stock footage I can take some for you and send them to you. No problem. I will help you if you really want to do that.
If you do that. If you start to contribute and not just with your stupid comments. (Ok they weren't all stupid. "Why do you do it?" was an ok question.) People will take you seriously and won't just think you are a troll. As it stands right now I think you are just a troll. But I made this anyway. :)
Davidarchthiessen, have a good day. Relax. Drink some soju. If it raining where you are a little makkeolli and pajeon always goes good with the rain.

What the ... misperception?!?!?
Reading the lametations of the KKKluckers and their ilk makes me shake my head at the way they seem to perceive non-Koreans. Do they REALLY believe that people (non-Korean) approve of others in or from their home country acting like assholes or breaking the law? In the case of many of the KKKleagle at Korea Sentry they actually grew up and/or live in Western countries.
Look at the latest foreign idiots in South Korea that got the KKKlans juices flowing. First you have the mooks sitting on the floor of the subway drinking and playing cards. Then you have the uber-idiots stripping down at a baseball game. If I was to only go by what the folks at KS and their ilk said I would be left thinking that ALL foreigners approve of this behaviour. If I was to go by what one of the contributors on Marmot's Hole said I would be left thinking that it is common behaviour in Western countries. Their perception isn't just off, it is seriously flawed.
I don't know of anyone (ex-pat/foreigner) who says the behaviour of those people is acceptable. Sure, some may joke and laugh about them but they would also be quick to say they are a bunch of fucktards. A lot of foreigners I know in Korea would like to see the offenders identified, exposed (no pun intended), and punished for their behaviour. They believe, and I concur, that these idiots give foreigners a bad name in Korea and there is no excuse for what they did. In fact, it doesn't matter if they did it in South Korea, Canada, or Zimbabwe, they would still be viewed as assholes by most people.
Nor have I seen any foreign media coverage extolling the virtues of the idiot ex-pats. Or even websites doing teh same. If there was something like that out there then I could see where this perception MIGHT come from. But there is nothing like that out there. Sometimes perceptions are have some basis in reality but I haven't seen anything to support this one.
To actually believe that most if not all ex-pats and foreigners believe this is pretty fucked up. It doesn't say a lot about the intelligence of those (like the KS idiots) espousing that view. However, it does give you an insight into their bias, hatreds, and just how far they will go to grind that axe.

What the ... internet nutjobs ?!?!? 2
I don't know if this was in response to my post about his post on KS but the KKKlucker known as Wideawake altered the post. In fact he even changed the title and made it a sticky at the top of the index. It was:
Thread Title: The Story of Captain Corea
WideAwake Amhaeng'eosa
Posted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 6:15 am Post subject: The Story of Captain Corea
He asked for it. Basically, after pestering the mods on this forum for such trivial issues as not PREVENTING people from posting and the like, he got banned. And as a result of this ban, he decided to enact "revenge" by inviting all the trolls from Dave's ESL. This guy is a married man in his forties with a child living in Korea. Supposedly, he runs his own English school and conducts classes for business English. Anyhow, I believe that he got off way too easy for his trollish behavior, so this is a thread dedicated to him. And if Captain Corea should ever have the foolish thought of more "revenge", then he will be taken care of.
Now it says

If you decide to troll this forum, your offending posts and others will be posted on this thread. Here are a few trolls and their offending posts:
1) Captain Corea - a top offender.
Captain Corea wrote:

I like how he says "here are a few trolls" but he only has one listed. This guys English is so bad he doesn't even know what a few means.
So, the first link, to Captain Corea's introduction contains "offending posts"? Comments like CC agreeing with Herr Consoleman that Asia Finest is not a nice place and saying this about Korea Sentry:
Agreed. That place can be pretty bad on occasion. Good to see a place where people can (civilly) discuss Korea.
Oh my god! How offensive! He said KS was a good place to talk civilly about Korea!!!! Ummm ... wait a sec ... that was him saying something good about KS. Man oh man Wideawakes English must be even worse than I thought if he took that as an offensive comment.
I guess I can see, if I try to look at teh world from Wideawake's warped view, how CC was offensive in the other thread. When attacked, CC fought back. When some of the KKKunts at the Klavern verbally attacked his wife and him ... he fought back. Yeah, I can see where a stupid piece of shit like Wideawake would get upset when someone stood up to the racist BS he supports. Of course, that doesn't make Wideawake right. It just makes him typical of the idiots at the KKKleagle.
So Wideawake tries to change the attack and THREAT aimed at Captain Corea he posted on the KKK site to a post to show why people are banished. And he failed at that. Damn that is pretty pathetic. Like I said in my initial post about this, the more these guys post the more they show the world just how moronic they are.

Internet Nutjobs
Sorry I had a brain fart and posted this on the wrong blog. While it did mention a K-Blogger it really wasn't Korea related so I put it where it was meant to be, on Flint's Follies.

What the ... ban order?!?!?!?
KRD seems to have gotten the KKKlan all riled up on Korea Sentry. Herr Consoleman and Cumdrop, oops Sejop, are now all hot and bothered about getting his blog banned.
Sejop said
He is worse the the average whitey. At least the average whitey comes to Korea and does his fucking and fighting, then leave. But David the Douche writes blogs and books about Korea. He pretend it is not him who is the bad one and instead everyone near him.
His blog needs to be shutdown.
Jeeze Sejop you and your cronies need to make up your mind. First you twits say KRD doesn't have a publisher now you say he has written BOOKS about Korea. God damn you guys just can't get anything straight can you? You definitely make it easy to ridicule you.
Then you have Herr Consoleman's call to arms
Can people start writing letters to http://wordpress.org/ to ban this loser? Because I'll looking for reasons to ban this idiot.
Yes, He'll looking for reasons to ban him. Hard to believe this moron was educated in Australia. (High School and University) Is the Australian education system THAT bad?
Maybe his hatred of ESL teachers comes from his inability to ever learn proper English? It can't be his fault, it must be theirs! That and the fact he can't seem to score with the ladies but "they" can.
I suppose when trying to get us banned fails they will fall back on the old tactic of trying to get the netnazis to make death threats.

What the ... stripping morons 2?!?!?
My last comment in the stripping morons post, about the lack of Korean media coverage, got me to start searching the web to see what I could find about the idiots and their actions. Except for Korea Sentry and Waygook.org I found ... nothing.
I couldn't find anything on Dave's ESL Cafe. Mind you, unless something is on the first coup-le of pages of posts you may as well forget about finding it. The search utility there is a piece of shit.
The Korea Sentry thread was started last Thursday. As was the Waygoo.org thread. But nothing in any of the Korean "media outlets? That strikes me as strange.
While I can EASILY believe there are idiots out there who would do this (strip at a baseball game) I find it hard to believe the Korean "news" hasn't picked up this ball and run with it yet.
Someone on Waygook.org said that according to Marmot's Hole the picture is 2 years old. I haven't found anything to corroborate that but if true it could explain the lack of "media" attention.
I found Marmot's post about it .... from last week not 2 years ago. Someone did claim in the comment section that the photo was from 2 years ago, but that doesn't necessarily make it so. Then it changed to 1 year ago with a link to site that a blurry picture that could have been the same ass hats.
Whether it was a week, a year, or a decade ago the photo is making the rounds now and will be used in conjunction with the latest fuckery by the subway 'tards to attack all foreigners.
Also, to digress a little, you find out in the comment section that even IF the search engine on Dave's worked you wouldn't find any mention of this incident. According to one commenter any thread that mentions the incident was being deleted by the mods on Dave's.
What the ... stripping morons?!?!?
First you had the idiots drinking and playing cards on the floor of a subway. Some morons decided to try and one up that and now we have ...
I find myself in the strange position of actually agreeing with the KKKunts at Korea Sentry. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable. They should have been arrested.
Mind you I think the KKKunts were too tame with the name calling. Calling this kind of classless moron a dumbass doesn't do justice to just how crude and rude they are.
I do find it strange though that the Korean "media" isn't going ape shit over this, especially in light of the subway dickheads. Maybe it is a busy news week or they have enough anti-foreigner shit to use.

What Would A Fucktard Do?
I was looking through my photos and my photo albums for any pictures I could use for a Mook Of The Week story, but alas, I have no more that I can use.
So I will have to describe the mookish behaviour that Flint and I experienced.
One of the things that mooks and fucktards in Korea do when they see a foreigner is to stare like a slack-jawed yokel. I can't tell you how many times I have seen some old ajussi or ajumma stop in their tracks, let their mouth hang open and stare, like they see something green, or you're a martian, or you've got a point on your head.
Even the children do this. I've even seen infants stare at me with a completely blank expression on their face. Their bodies go completely still as they stop whatever they're doing. The Koreans have a group mentality, and it seems to me to be something akin to a hive mind, like bees, or ants, or the Borg.
I always think that someone who stops and stares like this has blown a fuse, and they're communing with the group mind to retrieve any information about the strange apparition before them.
It must be so confusing for them to see a person of another colour, without black hair or eyes. You would think they'd be used to it by now, but the primitive and xenophobic bile spewed out by fucktards like Herr KKKonsoleman at KKKorean Sentry shows that they have a long way to go.
But it does have an amusing side.
I remember one time when Flint and I were dining at a galbi restaurant near his place. It had a glass front, and we could see new customers as they approached. But this one mook could not see us apparently, because it wasn't until he opened the door that he realized who and what we were. He stood there like a typical SJY, holding the door open.
Flint and I could see his wife coming along behind him at a respectful distance.
As she got to the door, her mook of a husband finally came to life. He let go of the door, shutting it in her face.
What would a fucktard do?
Amuse us greatly, for one thing.

What Would Fucktard Do?
There is an interesting new blog out there called What Would Fucktard Do? The latest post, the third of the blog, really resonated with me. I had never put Hilda in the fucktard category but after reading that I think she deserves to be there.
She would even get like that when she wasn't invited to things by people she kept blowing off. Like Spock. He always invited her to come out. Most of the time she would say yes and then not show. So he stopped inviting her. Once she found that out the "Why wasn't I invited?" started. Of course she would never ask him why, she would just annoy others whining about it.
Hilda is one of those people who complain "Why didn't you invite me?" You decided to do something at the last minute, or a friend called and invited you. Hilda lives in another city and even if you had thought of inviting her there just wouldn't be time. Of course as soon as she finds out you did something she would whine "Thanks for inviting me.", "Why wasn't I invited?" or the more annoying "Nice to be invited." or "I guess I am on ignore."
What would make the fucktardery even more annoying is she would do it even if she had previously told you there is no way she would be in town to do anything. Stig probably remembers this example, there was a time when we had a Thursday and then a Tuesday holiday. Hilda was in town for the Thursday one. She said quite vehemently that she would not come to town on the Tuesday. I say vehemently because she droned on about it for a while, complaining about crowds on the buses, on the streets, and just about everywhere else.
So 11AM Tuesday morning rolls around and Stig and I decide to meet at Outback for lunch. Of course Hilda calls while we are there. She then proceeds to get pissy for not being invited. I mentioned that I knew she didn't want to come in and that just led to more fucktardery.
"How do you know what I would want to do?"
"Because you told us quite clearly last Thursday you were NOT coming to town today for any reason."
The scramble to save face at this point caused her to deny saying that while also stating that she is allowed to change her mind. Contradictory fucktardery.
She would also hold the lack of an invitation against people for years. Hell, she is probably still holding a grudge about it. For example, a friend of mine, N, that she met once was coming to town. He wanted to meet me for lunch to talk about something. (Turns out he wanted to borrow some money and understandably didn't want anyone but me to know.) Hilda called that morning and asked what I was doing for lunch. I told her I was meeting N for lunch and she wanted to come. Now I don't just drag people along to things, I ask if it is ok. N asked if we could meet her after lunch because he had something personal he wanted to talk about. Hilda took that as a personal affront, even when it was later explained to her that he didn't mind her joining but that he wanted to talk about something personal with just me first. That didn't matter. Up until the time I stopped being friends with Hilda, 4 years after that happened, she was STILL harbouring a grudge to N over it. If she heard he was coming to town she would whine about that 1 time he wanted lunch with just me. Sometimes she would make comments like "Well, I don't want to hang around with him since he didn't want to be around me that time."
This attitude is one of the reasons I stopped bothering with Hilda. Life is too short to put up with undependable fucktards.

What the ... slip and fall?!?!?
We had a bit of a flash freeze here last night and the city didn't salt the sidewalks. Needless to say walking the dog was an exercise in pain and frustration. It reminded me of slipping in Korea in the winter.
What made the slips different in Korea is that a lot of them weren't because of mother nature. Instead they were the result of morons.
What made the slips different in Korea is that a lot of them weren't because of mother nature. Instead they were the result of morons.
There was a 24 hour pharmacy on a corner near Ivy school. Everyday they washed the floors inside, and the steps around 7-8AM. Then they would dump the water down the steps onto the sidewalk. Of course this would result in some nasty ice during the winter. Walking to work you would round a corner and immediately be on ice. This caused a lot of people, including me, to slip and fall. bloody mooks.
Then you have the adjummas that clean the stairs in buildings. They would do it regardless of the temperature. Leaving some bars in Cheongju was a survival test. I lost count of how many people I saw slip and fall on the first floor of the building Road King is in. You had to cling to the hand rail going down the stairs then brave the icy ramp. A few people ended up slipping and then sliding into piles of not quite frozen puke.
Ahhhh ... memories.

Shit Herr Consoleman Says
A reader emailed me and suggested I start doing "Shit Herr Consoleman Says". It would be pretty easy to do, there is a shit load of crap he spouted on his KKK site. I just don't know if I want to pay that much attention to the moron, even if just to show how stupid he is and mock him.

Health Care Differences 2.
At times I really miss the access to health care in South Korea. It has it's problems but the facilities are there and easily accessed. Here ... it makes me want to smack someone in government around until they get some common sense.

Mook Of The Week

This week's mook is the woman standing in the middle of the intersection. I was stopped at a railway crossing, waiting for the train to pass when I spotted her.
There is a bus stop at this intersection, but passengers usually wait back where the truck is, just behind her. And of course, it's out of the street.
There's also a crosswalk, but it's a little further along the main road that I was on. Traffic was stopped, so she could have crossed any time she wanted. But she just stood there, staring off into space.
You can see another vehicle behind her, approaching the main road. It had to edge around her and past the truck in order to join the main flow. I don't know why the driver didn't give her a blast of his horn to get her to move. Maybe he was in a fog, too.
Fucking mooks.
