A tip of the hat to Korea Beat for this one. My only thoughts ... too fucking bad Japan. You did it. Stop trying to gloss it over. Own it. Sincerely apologize for it. And then you can move on. There is a reason most of Asia hasn't forgiven you. Until then ... in the immortal words of John Stewart .. go fuck yourselves.

Koreans can build any statue they want but didn't the Japanese government already give them a bunch of money and a subway system? As for the comfort women I always found there numbers to be ludicrous and overblown
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese government did pay reparations to the Korean government in the 60's ... which the dictatorship de jour did who knows what with.
ReplyDeleteUntil the Japanese stop trying to deny what happened any apology comes off as insincere and really isn't much of one.
The Koreans need to grow up. What they are doing is akin to getting a settlement after a lawsuit and then showing up every year asking to talk about the old issues. They paid the Koreans a settlement for past injuries. The Koreans didn't hold out for an apology and they certainly didn't refuse the cash and prizes so relax and move on.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Blackchild, because the government (a dictatorship at that) speaks for all of their citizens. Because the Korean government accepted cash from Japan, its citizens and the victims should just shut the fuck up and deal with it.
