The aim of the trip is to give foreign teachers a correct understanding of Dokdo's past and present, and to promote the mysterious island of Ulleungdo.
That sounds suspiciously like what the nationalists and historical revisionists in Japan have said about their rewriting of history. A rewriting which get's Koreans in a tizzy. I remember the twats who revised what happened at Nanking saying something similar. They just wanted to educate people about the real (meaning their version) history of events.
Then you have the lectures that those on this tour will have to endure. I mean attend. One of them is titled "The importance of Dokdo and globalization."
How in the blue hell is Dokdo important to globalization? Unless your world view is that Korea and anything Koreans deem important is important to globalization this statement is so much bullshit. Or do they mean it is as important as globalisation? Also a load of bullshit.
This attitude that Dokdo is so important the world should know about it and if they don't we will inform them reminds me of the latest South Park episode that poked fun at the royal wedding and Canada. Whenever something was deemed good or bad for Canada by the commentator he would add "and therefore of course the world." (Hilarious episode, you should see it if you haven't. Being mocked hasn't been this much fun since "Blame Canada".)
Korea, c'mere. We need to talk for a second.
Fine, Dokdo is important to you. I get that. However, you REALLY need to get over yourself and stop expecting the rest of the world to care or even want to know about it. A lot of countries, including Canada, have disputes over islands and don't get their panties in a bunch a 10th of the amount as Koreans do over Dokdo. Your over reacting to things tends to make Korea look bad.
Just tell Japan "Dokdo is ours try and take it or fuck off." Then go back to life and move on.
Who is Canada having land disputes with? I'm sure it wasn't anyone who invaded their country just 60 years ago and took their entire territory.
ReplyDeleteI don't know enough about the disputes over Dokdo, but from what I understand, Japan's claim to the island is based largely on the fact that they legally owned it last before Korea claimed it... back in the 1920's (?) when they had taken over all of Korea. Korea is crying and whining about this all the time because Japan is acting like a complete ass about it, but foreigners tend to just support Japan because they have cool stuff like Playstation and ramen.
diaf please. dolt
DeleteAnonymous, cry me a river. For fucks sakes Korean's still get pissy with Japan because of the invasions when Hideyoshi was emperor of Japan.
ReplyDeleteIf you read my blog you would know I believe Korea owns the rocks. The problem is the way Korean's over react to things and apologists try to cover it up.
As I said in my post, tell Japan the islands are yours, fuck off or try and take them from us, and move the fuck on with life. Yes the Japanese don't help themselves with some of the stupid things they do but neither do Koreans. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Most foreigners don't care either way because it has NOTHING to do with them. Trying to "educate" foreigners has actually hurt the way the Korean governments stand on Dokdo.
The Korean government says there is no dispute, which is why they won't go to the World Court. The newspaper ad campaigns and other nonsense to "educate" foreigners has only served to make foreigners think there IS a dispute. One of the reasons the US changed dokdo's status to disputed back in 2008 (I think 2008) was because of these ads. Then the Korean's were up in arms and had to educate again. Bunch of tards shooting themselves in the foot.
"Anonymous, cry me a river. For fucks sakes Korean's still get pissy with Japan because of the invasions when Hideyoshi was emperor of Japan."
ReplyDeleteCome on, Flint, you really think Korea's pissy about the Imjin War as just a separate incident? You don't think their still negative attitude about it has NOTHING to do with the more recent invasion?
I didn't say what Korea is doing about Dokdo is really the right thing to do, but again, I'm saying I understand the anger. I think there is enough justification. Anger causes people to do stupid things, and that's what's happening here.
As always, it's easy to tell Korea to stop whining from the outside. But when your country has been pissed on and raped; you tend to hold that grudge, especially if the offender still says/does things to provoke that anger.
I have had Koreans go on rants about how evil Japan is and go as far back as that.
ReplyDeleteI guess we do agree ... people do stupid things. Both sides. But Korean's often make themselves look bad instead of their target, Japan.
I always go back to how a former Korean PM handled the issue when he was asked about Dokdo and Japan's claim. He basically said "Dokdo is Korean territory. Next question." And with that dismissed the question and the Japanese claim, as it should be. Unfortunately, that isn't a typical Korean response.
People are rarely rational when they're that riled up. I'm justifying the Koreans' anger, not their actions.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I was misreading what you meant. Sorry about that.

ReplyDeleteGreat paragraph, man. Glad to see you're keeping up the good (if probably hopeless) fight. I feel sorry for Korea for caring so much about it... but then they reach out to the rest of the world and just humiliate themselves with childish antics and silly - dare I say NORTH KOREAN-like - rhetoric.
Thanks. :) I just wish they would be smarter about the way they fight. Instead they just shoot themselves in the foot again and again and again. Isn't that the definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result each time? Hmmm ... kind of like me talking about hwo Koreans over react and shoot themselves in the foot. Oh wait, I don't expect a different result. ;)
ReplyDeleteDOKDO IS KOREAN ISLAND
ReplyDeleteDOKDO DOKDO DOKDO!
Sounds like someone is cuckoo for dokdopuffs.
ReplyDeleteThe American government dictates pretty much of Republic of Korea's foreign policies. Is the Takeshima crisis manufactured by the American government? My gut feeling says "yes" and yet I'm an American.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your tinfoil hat is on too tight?
